A network of civic and educational organizations that deliberate on nation-wide issues. This NIF website provides information on participating in National Issue Forums as well as a complete list of issue books from 1990 to present. There are also reports on forums. Regional PPI events are listed. A discussion board is available for posting news, comments and announcements.
Public Policy Institutes (PPIs) PPIs provide workshops where citizens come together to learn more about convening and moderating National Issues Forums (NIF). Some PPIs also offer instruction in the fundamentals of framing issues (IFWs) for deliberation. PPIs are located across the country, find one in your area.
A nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation dedicated to studying democracy and conducting research on the practice of deliberative politics. The Kettering Foundation web site provides information on the philosophy and goals of the Kettering Foundation, from its beginnings in 1921 to current strategies for strengthening research on American democracy. A nonpartisan, nonprofit public opinion research and citizen education organization. This site provides
non-partisan coverage of a number of issues that concern citizens.
Issues are framed from different (sometimes overlapping) perspectives
held by the American public. People can comfortably hold viewpoints from
any or all of these perspectives simultaneously. They are not mutually
exclusive but are used to frame the deliberation of complex issues.
