KENT STATE UNIVERSITY HONORS DAY CONVOCATION
The College of Nursing participates in the University Honors Day Convocation by nominating eligible students for
honor societies or awards already established within the University. In addition, the College of Nursing has
established those awards to be given annually to graduating seniors. These awards are:
- Judith Hollander Bess Award for Academic Excellence
This award is given to a graduating senior who has attained the highest grade point average in the nursing curriculum
based upon a minimum of one hundred hours of study at Kent State University. This award Is sponsored by Delta XI
Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.
- College of Nursing Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice
This award is given to a graduating senior who, based upon evaluation by the clinical faculty, has demonstrated
excellence in the clinical practice laboratories. This award is sponsored by the faculty of the Kent State University
College of Nursing.
- College of Nursing Award for Leadership/Service
This award Is given to a graduating Senior who demonstrates leadership/service to the College, University and/or
community. The recipient is determined by the faculty. This award is sponsored by the Kent State University College
of Nursing Alumnae Association.
Other awards are being considered and may be added to these three as criteria for selecting worthy candidates are
defined.
These awards are presented at the annual University Honors Day Convocation and the College of Nursing
Convocation.
