FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY
Financial aid is available through the University in the form of grants, loans and scholarships. Information on these
sources may be obtained by contacting the University Financial Aid office.
LOAN FUNDS AVAILABLE FROM THE COLLEGE OF NURSING
In addition to aid available to students from the University office of Financial Aid, the College of Nursing has
established two short-term emergency loan funds. There are:
The Elizabeth Hudack Memorial Fund
The Margaret Knooihulzen Memorial Fund
Although anyone may donate to these funds, contributions have largely been made by graduating seniors from the
College of Nursing. Contributions are tax deductible.
THE ELIZABETH HUDACK MEMORIAL FUND
This fund was established by the first graduating class of the College of Nursing in memory of one of their
classmates who died just prior to her senior year. Several other classes have made contributions to this fund in
memory of classmates who have died.
The fund provides short-term, emergency, interest-free loans to baccalaureate students in the College of Nursing.
Requests for money to cover short-term or emergency situations are made to the Assistant Dean of the College of
Nursing.
THE MARGARET KNOOIHUIZEN MEMORIAL
This fund was established by the friends and classmates of Margaret Knooihulzen, an alumnae of the College, who
died while studying for her Master's degree.
This fund provides short-term, emergency, interest-free loans to students in the graduate program of the College of
Nursing. Requests for money from this fund are made to the Assistant Dean or Dean of the College.
OTHER SOURCES OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER
Akron General Medical Center offers a Nursing Scholarship program through their Service League. Eligibility
requirements include acceptance in a State of Ohio supported university nursing program; a 2.5
g.p.a.; graduate of a
high school in Summit County, Ohio or an employee of Akron General Medical Center. Financial need is also
assessed. Applications are usually received prior to March 15th and awards announced late in the Spring.
CLEVELAND CLINIC FOUNDATION TUITION ASSISTANCE

TRUMBULL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
TRUMBULL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WOMEN'S AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to students in the Junior or Senior nursing sequence. Applications may be made
through the College of Nursing. Deadline application is April 1st Applicants must be residents of Trumbull County. A
2.5 g.p.a. is required.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF AKRON CITY HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to registered nurses seeking a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
DOCTORS HOSPITAL TUITION SUBSIDY AND SUBSISTENCE ALLOWANCE
(Employment Commitment)
Nursing students who desire to become eligible for tuition subsidy and subsistence should complete the Student
Nurse Application for Tuition Subsidy and Subsistence Allowance form which may be obtained from Doctors Hospital
Personnel Department, 400 Austin Avenue, N.W., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
LAKEWOOD HOSPITAL FOUNDATION TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM
The Lakewood Hospital Foundation, Application and Grants Committee is offering financial support to nursing

OHIO LEAGUE FOR NURSING
The Ohio League for Nursing is involved in awarding of Allstate Foundation Scholarships to students beginning a
registered nursing program in a National League for Nursing accredited school in the State of Ohio. For further

UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS OF CLEVELAND TUITION ASSISTANCE PLAN
University Hospitals of Cleveland provides financial assistance to qualified students enrolled for fulltime study in
selected undergraduate baccalaureate programs in nursing. For further information on the Tuition Assistance Plan
