STUDENT
DISABILITIES STATEMENT
In accordance with University policy, if a student has a documented
disability and requires accommodations to obtain equal access in a course,
the instructor is to be contacted at the beginning of the semester or
when given an assignment for which an accommodation is required. Students
with disabilities must verify their eligibility through the Office of
Student Disability Services (SDS) in the Michael Schwartz Student Services
Center (672-3391). Students enrolled in course work at a Regional Campus
should contact the Dean's Office to acquire the name of the campus SDS
representative to whom documentation should be submitted.
CHEATING
AND PLAGIARISM POLICY
The
Faculty and Administration of the Kent State University College of Nursing
respect, support, and encourage scholarship by students. Therefore,
they uphold the University Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism that endorses
those values. Students are to review this policy contained in the University
Digest of Rules and Regulations published each year in the Kent State
University Telephone Directory. (Copies of the Kent State University
Telephone Directory are available in the Student Center Commuter and
OffCampus Student Organization Office.) Students having questions regarding
cheating and plagiarism should discuss this with faculty and/or administration.
STUDENT
ATTENDANCE
The
faculty of the College of Nursing support the University Policy On attendance
outlined In the student Rules and Regulations Digest. It is expected
that students will attend all scheduled orientation, on campus and on-line
classes except when there is an extenuating circumstance such as illness.
It is expected that the student will use good judgement in choosing
to be absent. Professional behavior that takes into account responsibility
for learning and, in the case of clinical absence, responsibility for
the clients who are assigned to their care is expected. In order to
contribute to success in the program, students who also maintain employment
are to arrange work hours so as not to coincide with class and clinical
hours.
Extended
absence for health reasons may necessitate a physician's release and
possible course withdrawal. Students may not participate in clinical
against a physician's advise. Students with a diagnosed disability are
encouraged to contact Student Disability Services (672-3391) at the
Kent Campus or any other campus in the eight campus system to obtain
support in meeting their educational goals.
When
it Is necessary to be absent, faculty are to be notified by the student
at the earliest possible time. This is particularly important when it
is a clinical day so that assignment of patient care may be reassigned
by the clinical agency. Data related to attendance and promptness is
reflected in clinical evaluations and may be used in employment references.
