The health policy for students in the College of Nursing is based on and consistent with the health policy of the
University and the policies of affiliating health care agencies. This policy is given below.
Requirements Prior to Admission to the University
Each student will have the physical examination form completed by a private physician. This includes the student's
immunization history. Documentation of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine is required.
Requirements for Admission to the Nursing Program
Each student will obtain from their physician the following tests and/or immunizations in the semester prior to
beginning clinical courses.

method means that you receive first Tb test, and one week later you receive the second Tb test. Results of EACH
step must be submitted.
-
Results of a one-step Mantoux Tb test must be submitted each year thereafter.
-
Results of
Chest Xray and physician follow-up must be submitted yearly if Tb test is positive.

Student
Health Insurance
All
students at Kent State University are strongly encouraged to subscribe
to Health Insurance. Health insurance is also a requirement for
clinical laboratory practice in some health agencies. The university
offers a student Health Insurance Plan for those who are interested.
Personnel
Health Services in Clinical Agencies
Since
students are not employees of the clinical practice agencies and
are, therefore, not covered by Employee's Compensation, they are
not entitled to free care through the Employee Health Service of
that institution. If it is necessary for a student to be seen in
the Emergency Room, prevailing charges for that institution are
incurred.
Questions
of health related matters in the clinical practice area are to be
referred to the clinical faculty for clarifications.
