COLLEGE OF NURSING UNIFORM
FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE
FOR THE R.N./B.S.N. STUDENT
It is required that R.N./B.S.N. students dress in a professional manner at all times in the clinical areas. Each clinical
site may require professional dress/uniforms or name tags specific to their clinical setting. Students are expected to
comply with uniforms appropriate to the clinical setting and required by their individual clinical facilitators. In the
acute care areas white nursing uniforms or white lab coat with professional dress should be worn. It is suggested
that students In community agencies or Home Care facilities wear navy blue pants with plain white blouses/shirts.
Navy blue or white sweaters may be worn.
At all times a name tag is to be worn which has the student's first initial and last name and Kent State University
College of Nursing R.N./B.S.N. Program. These engraved name tags will be ordered by Kent State College of
Nursing at the time of request of enrollment for R.N. Core I and Core II.
In order to maintain a professional appearance, a limited amount of accessories may be worn in the clinical setting.
A watch with a second hand, plain gold or silver posts for pierced ears, a wedding band, and any chain that would
not show when worn are acceptable. If nail polish is worn, use the clear or neutral shade. Hair should be neat and
worn professionally. Shoes should be clean and in good repair. Males should be clean shaven or established beards
are to be neatly trimmed. At all times during clinical experience students must adhere to the accepted uniform code
of the Kent State University College of Nursing and required by the specific health care facility.
