KENT STATE UNIVERSITY
COLLEGE OF NURSING
BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM

PURPOSE

The program in Kent State University's College of Nursing leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The College of Nursing has developed its program in accord with the University's stated goals. Specifically the program aims:

  1. to prepare practitioners for the beginning practice of professional nursing.
  2. to provide a base for the continuing development of the student as an individual, as a citizen, and as a professional practitioner of nursing.
  3. to provide a foundation for graduate study in nursing.

The R.N. to B.S.N. program is intended to meet the needs of registered nurses who bring a variety of knowledge and experience gained since completion of their basic nursing program (diploma or A.D.N.). Its goal is to build upon the previous nursing foundation, expand one's liberal education background, and provide for professional development. The program is intended to provide a basis for continued nursing education at the graduate level.
