The Behavioral Intervention Specialist Program has been designed to offer graduate students preservice training through high caliber courses, seminars, and experientially based activities to ensure preparation in roles of direct service and consultation with schools, teachers, and families of children with or at risk for developing emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Train educational professionals in Early Childhood Intervention, Special Education and School Psychology to work with children and youth that have been diagnosed with or at risk for developing an emotional or behavioral disorder
  • Provide field-based experience to students by working with parents, teachers, and other educationally-based service provision professionals
  • Engage program students to work in the community and with families through the Behavior Assist Center 
  • Award Kent State University Behavior Intervention Specialist Certificate to part-time track students upon completion of coursework 
  • Award Kent State University Behavior Intervention Specialist Certificate to full-time track students upon completion of coursework and traineeship activities 
  • Ensure high quality preparation as monitored by the Behavioral Intervention Specialist advisory board
