Melody Tankersley, PhD, Professor of Special Education, completed
her doctorate work at the University of Virginia and a post doctoral
fellowship at the University of Kansas, Juniper Gardens Children's Project.
Her work focused on children and youth with emotional and behavioral
disorders, first as a classroom teacher and now as a teacher educator and
researcher. Her research interests include prevention and early
intervention for young children with emotional or behavioral disorders,
direct academic and social interventions, and issues related to bringing
research to bear upon practice.

Prior to joining Kent State University in 2000, Kara
McGoey served as a lecturer in the areas of Social/Emotional
Assessment, Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Child and Adolescent
Psychopharmacology, Systems of Consultation, Assessment and Treatment of
ADHD, and Child Psychotherapy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She received her Ph.D in 1998 from Lehigh University in the field of School
Psychology. Dr. McGoey also previously worked in Pediatric Psychology,
providing assessment, consultation, and treatment services to children ages
3 to 18 years. Dr. McGoey has contributed to numerous publications and
presentations widely focusing on the assessment and treatment of children
with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. She is a Nationally
Certified School Psychologist (NCSP)

Dr.
Kristie Pretti-Frontzcak
is an Associate Professor in early childhood intervention, in the
Department of Educational Foundations and Special Services at Kent State
University (KSU). Kristie received her doctorate in early intervention
from the University of Oregon and has extensive experience in preparing
preservice and inservice personnel in recommended practices for working
with young children and their families. She directs the Early Childhood
Intervention Specialist Program at KSU, where she is responsible for
preparing preservice teachers to work with children with disabilities from
birth to age eight. Her lines of research center on the treatment validity
of the AEPS, the efficacy of ABI, the link between assessment, IEPs, and
curriculum, family-centered practices, and effective personnel preparation
techniques.
