Family settings comprise the majority of social environments for young children and represent the primary source of social learning, support, and supervision as children grow. However, parents are often frustrated in their skill and competence in dealing with problem behaviors that their children may display. The Behavior Assist Center will work with families to address concerns related to their children’s behavior in the home, school, or child care setting. Through referrals from pediatricians from Akron Children’s Hospital’s Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Unit, private child psychologists, or school or child care agency teams, trainees will work with families to identify problem behavior, develop positive interventions, and monitor family progress.
